ARUNDEL Arundel Festival
FRIDAY 21st August 2009

The last two shows of the Summer and Mick Brown is moonlighting with some other Oxford band leaving us to dredge up the past with are old crew members Mike and Gerry (who killed Mark Dempsey?). First stop Arundel Castle, a spectacular venue and a beautiful part of the country. A day spent wandering the grounds of the castle and perusing the charming antique shops of Arundel and then, what better way to end a smashing day out with than, a huge load monsters of rock gig with peoples ear drums bleeding, but in a nice way!

The siege bridge is lowered over the moat and we're into the grounds of the castle Giant man eating rhubarb. I haven't seen this since... Glaring down from above, the Castle's Grade 1 listing prevents us from damaging the ramparts with the Supergrass cannon The gate house

In the vegetable gardens: Four lovely specimens await his lordships pleasure   Alien pods in the glasshouse replicate any human foolish enough to fall asleep Rare white raspberries, taste the same as red ones but don't look as exciting.  Can anyone identify this sub-species of Triffid?

I've been meaning to grow some chillies for ages, look at these crackers from the glasshouse "‘Oberon’s Palace’, a fantastic spectacle designed by Inigo Jones for Prince Henry’s Masque on New Year’s Day 1611, flanked by two green oak obelisks. This contains a shell-lined interior with a stalagmite fountain and gilded coronet ‘dancing’ on top of the jet." - Arundel Castle website Lord Gareth of Coombes takes to the stage for the Jazz Odyssey sound check  The Fitzalan Chapel could do with some sort of snack bar
