X-RAYS |

These are the real and original X-ray portraits taken for the album cover. We'd been trying to think of an original way of appearing on the cover and this seemed the most interesting. There wasn't any specific message behind using the X-rays but we thought it carried many different messages about the album and Supergrass. Things to note are that Danny has the thickest skull (and the biggest head), I've got the most enamel on my teeth and Gaz has got some terrible posture going on. What also surprised us is how small your skull is compared to the size of your head. What surprised us even more was that nobody appears to have done it before. If you know of any previous album covers featuring the band as X-rays then write to us or just keep it to yourself. The hardest part was trying to show the beautiful qualities of the X-rays without making them too macabre. They still make me a bit queasy after looking at them too long. The original idea was to lay a silver print of our portraits over the X-rays. This would mean that you would only see the portraits when you caught it at an angle in the light, and when you saw it normally only the X-rays would be visible. Unfortunately due to printing reasons this didn't work too well so we had to print the portraits so that they were semi-transparent. |
