The painting, as with all the singles artwork, was painted by a one of a group of commercial artists on Cowley Road, going under the name 'Moody Painters'. They  were very young guys who had decorated a few clubs with murals and approached us with their book of stuff at one of our early gigs at the Jericho Tavern. Mike swag was one of their number but he didn't do much painting as far as I could see.

The sleeve was laid up by Nick Bax at the Designers Republic in Sheffield who did a good job with the back cover and type faces. The white band at the top was inspired by an old Donavan record I had and is a throw back to old sixties/fifties records, with the stereo/mono signs etc.

The picture on the back was taken at the Garage in London  about 5 minutes after coming off stage. Well it's actually two photos cause I was pulling a disgusting face in the original so we grafted my head onto this one from a nearly identical shot from the same session. 

The graffiti on the well provided the font for the track titles but the spooky bit is that on the left it says "L, S & J were here", which are the initials of our girlfriends.
